A visit with Charlie Brown - Friday, January 1, 2016

Friday, January 1, 2016...43 days in the hospital

Not a great day.

Late last night and again early this morning, BJ was nauseated and vomited. He felt rough all day, and didn't get up at all. His total bilirubin is slightly down from yesterday, to 2.6. He needed a platelet transfusion today. His hemoglobin got a nice bump up from the 2 units of blood he received yesterday. He was also started on TPN (IV nutrition) and lipids last night, since he still isn't eating much, if anything most days. BJ's white blood cell count is still less than 0.1 again today.

There are a whole team of doctors/departments who are following his progress....Infectious Disease (monitoring his antibiotic coverages), Pediatric Surgery (to monitor his gallbladder and blood counts for gallbladder removal), Gastroenterologists (doc who put in his stent), Kidney Specialists, Pain Management Specialist, Nutritionist, Physical Therapy, Pediatric Rehab (to make plans for getting BJ back to a conditioned state), and obviously the Bone Marrow Transplant team, and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. Couldn't be in better hands than here at Levine Children's Hospital.

A very special visitor made BJ smile today. Praying for a better day tomorrow with no nausea.
